"A steep hike with a short "difficult scramble" (Class 4 climb) through a chimney with a few stemming moves. I can see why some people may want to protect this climb if the chimney is icy. The other route on climber's left is a bit easier (Class 3). I went up the chimney and descended the other way." — Taras • Oct 20, 2022
"Liz's final Kane peak! She finished the 3rd edition!
Too much snow on the Little Elbow to bike. Took "descent" scree as it was snow-covered and allowed for some easy kick stepping.
The steeper chimneys were tough. The main one looked like it might go. It looked filled in to form a snow ramp, but the snow was actually created a weak bridge and couldn't be used. Tried to dig it out, but I wanted rubber for the rock and crampons for the ice...no go.
The steeper corner line looked promising, but in the end, felt too committing with ice. Took the "moderate" route up the north side, and didn't have any issues, though I was happy to have an ax and crampons.
Got a nice glissade in on the decent.
The parking lot for little elbow is closed, so the long approach/return was even longer.
Still, a satisfying end? to our scramble season.
Bring on the snow! I want to ski!" — mike_rogers81 • Oct 6, 2019
"Definitely one of the harder scrambles I have done. I ended up taking the chimney to climbers right while my buddy scrambled up climbers left on the summit block. Smoky views but outstanding views nonetheless. Unfortunately i lost the original picture files for this trip. The ones I salvaged from facebook arent large enough to post :/ " — Slogenstein • Aug 20, 2018
