"A beautiful day to grab the non-technical peaks on Mt Rundle. We found some fun scrambling by sticking to the ridge proper. On the return, we tried to utilize the bypass trails. Some successfully avoided gaining unneeded elevation… some ended up being torturous side-hilling on scree. My ankles and knees would have preferred the additional elevation. Instead of regaining Rundle 8, we dropped down into a bowl south of the col between 8 and 7. We figured we’d give an alternate descent line a try. After down climbing a series of cliff bands, we found ourselves on the lower plateau and on the main trail. It worked! Although I’m not sure it actually saved any time. " — ivo • Sep 16, 2023
"This was the second mountain I have ever summited, this hike is across of Ha Ling which I have also done. This hike is really fun, once you reach the top its wide open with the view of the town. This hike has a lot of rocks falling often and sometimes is a really busy hike. " — trevorgoodram • Jul 5, 2023
"If you like scrambling, give this peak a try. Journey to the summit is about 3km. There’s about 1km from the peak where we were struggling climbing through the loose rocks. The view at the summit was pretty rewarding - view of Canmore, view of Ha Ling, Miner’s Peak and Mount Lawrence and view Goatview peak. Also as a bonus, we found a logbook hidden under the cairns!" — joegar • Aug 21, 2021

"Was talking to some people at the EEOR summit and shut my GPS off without realizing. EEOR and R8 seem to be the same peak but are slightly different and a lot of people don't go to R8. You can drop down the side or stay on top the ridge the whole way never to hard and very close. A fun very short traverse across. A nice view of Shark with Smuts and Assiniboine peaking out" — Randy • Oct 23, 2018
"Short and sweet hike, there was a fair bit of cloud cover going up, but being above the clouds at the top was pretty awesome! On the way up wanted to avoid scrambling up the scree and tried to follow the ridge as described in Kane's route description (he recommends going up on the ridge, and down the scree slope)but ended up having to scramble up some large rock bands. "Nice weather!! Good scrambling alternatives. You can stick to the trail or go verticle up some rock! I chose the rock :) It's not peaceful quiet at the top though, you can hear traffic from the highway, which sucks. But the scrabling was great---I did some really steep and dangerous stuff! The pictures of that don't do it justice." — mike.buenting.7 • Sep 22, 2012
"Experienced some really strong wind. A hard shell rain jacket was great for keeping that cold chill off our backs, especially on the way down. Amazing views of Canmore from this location." — Drambuie • Sep 25, 2011
"Always a great mountain with great views. HaLing Peak and Mt. Lawrence Grassi beyond the lake are impressive and both nice hikes too. Canmore and Grotto Mountain across the valley." — MtnJohn • Jun 12, 2010
