"Low clouds in the morning meant I ascended the first peak in a whiteout. Conditions improved after noon, with warm sunshine and clear skies. The descent from Horseshoe Ridge turned into a brutal bushwhack, but otherwise it was a gorgeous day painted in fall colors. Hordes of cows wandered through the forests, mooing and terrifying lonely scramblers.." — MikaM • Sep 28, 2025
"Livingstone to Coffin. Hiking and easy scrambling up to Livingstone. North ridge face up Coffin was more challenging some route finding up steep slopes with a mix of scree and solid rock good for scrambling. Found a cool little cave. As I write this at home a tick is crawling across the floor out from some gear I just organized and its coming right at me I guess ticks are still out and I did not tick check good enough at the end of this trip." — Randy • Jun 6, 2024
"Ascended Coffin Mountain via easy route. The approach road was very rough, had to park by highway and walk 1.2km to base of mountain. Lots of deadfall slowed ascent considerably. Great views, could see far peaks including Chief Mountain in USA, also Crowsnest Mountain and Great Divide" — yuri • Nov 21, 2020
"Coffin - Sheep - Horseshoe loop: 23.7km with 1,320m gain in 9:40hrs
Family scramble. Got lucky with the weather: it was raining in any other place around except that particular area. Nice and easy scramble, took an alternative longer approach to Horseshoe Peak via ATV trails, i.e. no bushwhacking." — alexp • Aug 24, 2019
"Sleep-in day.
Easy half day hike. We needed to go a little offroute (climber's left) to avoid some target shooting near the base. Our hike was a bit steeper, but avoided the deadfall. No worries.
Took Nugara's suggested drainage decent. Easy enough, but mix of packed dirt and rubble on slab made it unpleasant. Would recommend returning the same way you came up. " — mike_rogers81 • May 27, 2017
"A nice shoulder season scramble. A bit breezy, but not bad. Enjoyable slab up to the north end of the ridge, and a quick traverse over tothe summit. Decended north of our ascent route." — BertB • Nov 27, 2016
