"2 days trip. Day 1: I biked/ hiked to Midpass Lakes and took Nugara recommend slab route ( difficult) up to the Three Lakes Ridge. Cracks and good holds are available and despite of intimidating looking from the bottom, scrambling is never very hard. Ridgewalk towards Jake Smith is full of great views. Came back same way but descended easier route ( mostly scree) north of slabs. Camped at first lake. " — PawelG • Sep 13, 2025
"Approached through West Castle Valley. Gained the west ridge of La Coulotte Peak, peaked it, then ridgewalked NW along the divide over a bunch of subsidiary peaks until Scarpe Mountain and eventually Three Lakes Ridge. Easy route along the Great Divide ridge the entire day with the exception of ascending the west ridge of Jake Smith Peak. There were some high 4th class scrambles and sections that needed to be skirted around. Overall it was long, fun, and an awesome day." — danielvanderpyl • Jul 20, 2022
"Alda and I hiked to the base of the Three Lakes Ridge and camped. On the summit day we went up steep, exposed slabs. It was lots of fun. There are good handholds and foot holds. We encoutered strong winds when we reached the ridge. We continued our traverse to Scarpe. Make sure to check your descend route. We followed Nugara's descend." — martawojnarowska • Oct 8, 2020
"On the 2nd day of Middlepass Lakes Basecamp, we went up Three Lakes Ridge via Nugara recommended NE face (upper-moderate scramble with a bit of deadly exposure near the summit) and traversed towards "Jake Smith Peak"." — Taras • Jun 30, 2019
