"Nice quick after work climb. Great views of the surrounding peaks, despite the wildfire smoke in the area. Other reports suggest keeping climbers right once above the tree line, And this makes sense to avoid a long scree bash. The scree makes for a quick descent back to the tree line. Route finding is aided by about 5,000 cairns. Some are probably just decorative. " — ivo • Sep 8, 2021
"Fun day out with some friends, who were not big fans of the wind. Started early because of work in the afternoon so we were in the clouds and rain for bulk of hike which was unfortunate. Nice and snow free!" — snowsurfer • Jun 15, 2020
"Rimwall - June 13 2020. The entire route is now free of snow. It's pretty easy to go the wrong way, if you're on route you will be following an excellent trail the entire way and not have to scramble though the cliff band like we did! Some GPX files online are wrong. Once you're in the alpine you can avoid all of the scree by taking climbers right. There were a few moderate scrambling sections on the summit ridge that were very short - otherwise everything is easy. Excellent summit views! Can take soft scree for much of the descent. Very high reward to effort ratio on this peak. 8km 1000m gain. 5.5hrs with 1hr summit stay. " — jakefinnan • Jun 13, 2020
"'s back in shape for the season now, some unavoidable snow patches left just before treeline. Saw a cornice collapse off of windtower, stay aware of overhead danger, runout was a few hundred meters" — ken_hercules • May 8, 2018
"missed the multitudes of tape markers along the trail indicating the split off from the West Wind Pass trail to the Rimwall Trail. At the pass had to descent and backtrack multiple places to find a break the rock band to gain access to the Rimwall slopes. Should have paid more attention to Spirko's GPS track. Rain and hall on descent including thunderstorms as soon as we reached the car. " — MarkJPerkins • Jul 17, 2016
"Made it this time. Attempted last August and encountered a big grizzly bear at the tree line. The bear was scrambling down the ridge and was headed our way so we quickly made our way back to the road. It was quite the sight!" — Randy • Jul 19, 2015
"Had a tight timeline on this one and we made it with 18 minutes to spare...up and down in 4:42 with a GPS track that weaved and dodged and took us much farther than we needed to go.
