"My favourite scramble in the Canmore area so far. I ascended the slabby ridge instead of the gully on the way up. The downclimb was not the hardest part by any measure, I think the crux is actually a steep 2m step halfway up the ridge. I went down the gully route which was nasty ball bearings on slab most of the way. Only took 7 hours including 60 minutes summit break." — yuri • Aug 31, 2021
"After getting a monthly doze of adrenaline on Mt. Robertson, next day I was looking for an easy peak with little exposure and difficulty. For some reason, I thought Big Sister fits this description. I didn't do any research and just followed a distinct trail (there are 2 trails as I later learned). Big Sister turned out much harder than expected. There were two brief Class 4 sections on good slabs and the well-know Class 3 downclimb before the summit block. The rest of the terrain above the treeline (steep scree and slabs or usually the both) required some caution. It looked like a solid "difficult" scramble. I was probably off-route but, curiously enough, I followed a path with cairns and flaggings and other people followed the same route." — Taras • Aug 29, 2020
"Another from the Liz list. Slept in, grabbed brunch in Canmore and headed up around 2pm.
Quick day. Lots of clean slab. No issues with snow, though a little fell at the top.
I was happy to repeat this one!" — mike_rogers81 • Jul 27, 2019
"This peak meant alot to me. I have two kids, the oldest sister named Faith. Summiting Big Sister Faith held much meaning for me lol. Quite the scramble though. Super enjoyable. Especially the downclimb just before the summit. Got lost a few times on the way up and down though lol. " — Slogenstein • Jul 28, 2018
"After work special. Left YYC at 3pm, trailhead 4:30pm, summit after 7pm and at car by 10:11pm for a 5.5 hr round trip. Crux was pretty straightforward and only minor snow on upper. Summit views were stellar. Summit number 399 in the bag and 103rd Kane. Great night with Gerry and Edgar.
