"We wanted to stay on trails today, since Luna is wearing a cone (ear infection). We hiked to the Anthem Hills East Trail Highpoint, then did Park Peak. Beautiful weather & we saw some bighorn sheep!" — Kevin • Feb 27, 2022

"Always a good hike to this trio of peaks. Cold day but not as windy as expected. 21 degrees at the peak, a few snow flurries and some trace accumulation on the north loop. " — DudeAlmighty • Feb 23, 2022

"Hike to "Cartwheels in the Sun" inspired by local athlete Paula Raimondi. First Henderson hike of the season with McCullough highs in the 70s and it was beautiful, although it's never not windy here so that's to be expected. I plan on knocking out the entire north & south McCullough ranges eventually ... today was my first time to Cartwheels and North McCullough Peaks. Cartwheels was a good challenge with lots of scree and scrambling class 3 or 4 depending how you get there. I was the 2nd entry in the registry ... makes me wonder how many ppl have ever been there. Thanks to Paula for naming this peak and posting the route. " — DudeAlmighty • Sep 29, 2021

"Sunrise (solo) hike to the Sloan Canyon Trifecta! Started around 4:07am, up 404 to Black, traversed to Fracture (my first time going that way, cool route, and didn't know there was a register there!) and down to Park. Epic Views, INTENSE winds i'm guessing 25-40mph ish. Very intense on the traverse and at Fracture. My thermometer was reading about 33 degrees at top of Black. Great day enjoying the cool weather in late April. Happy hiking!" — DudeAlmighty • Apr 26, 2021

"Reverse Trifecta! (PP>FR>BM) and in the SNOW. Cut out the north loop due to excessive snow on the rocks and i was over it at that point so headed back down the main trail but i think that actually adds about 1/2 mile as the north loop is more direct (no switchbacks)." — DudeAlmighty • Jan 26, 2021

"On my way down from Fracture Ridge Peak, I had to visit Park Peak. I took the trail from the East side of the mountain. It's a very easy hike to the top with a very clear trail." — GMan • Dec 5, 2020

"TRIFECTA!! We had a bizarre cool day at the end of June if you can believe that. High was only 90 in Henderson so I hit the trail early. It was still HOT by the time I got to Fracture Ridge. Good day!" — DudeAlmighty • Jun 29, 2020

"My first real mountain hike! It was a fairly easy climb most of the way that did get hard on my legs closer to the summit. After spending about twenty minutes enjoying the spectacular views from the top and making sure to sign the logbook, I headed back down. I passed plenty of other climbers during the climb and descent, so it seems to be a popular trail. There was virtually no wildlife other than the plants, so this is the time of the year to go if one wants to avoid the snakes, but it did feel a bit monotonous sometimes." — AFFIDAVID • Jan 1, 2020

"10.11.19, Fracture Ridge & Park Peak w/Adam. 7.5 miles, 2,100’ gain, 3:03hrs. Adam is in town briefly and sent me a last min invite to do some peakbagging in the McCullough Range near Anthem. I couldn’t start as early as him (and wasn’t up for the longer distance he was doing) so I told him I would head that way and do the descent with him. He did Northern McCullough HP first. It worked out well and we both arrived at Fracture Ridge at almost exactly the same time. It was cold and breezy but perfect for this volcanic range. The snakes were all hiding from the frigid temps so that was a bonus. First time meeting Adam in person. We have been corresponding about mountains and adventures through text. He is a very accomplished mountaineer and moves fast and stealth just like me. Great little Friday workout.

"5.23.19....”Cartwheels in the Sun” peak. 4,372’ above the sea (FKA) via Fracture Ridge with a Park Peak finish w/ Harlan. 10.5 rugged miles, 3,400’ gain in 5:42hr. I’ve had my eye on this beauty for a few years. It’s a peak off on its own Island but attached to the Main ridge near North McCullough Peak. To reach it you have to down-climb a steep, loose, treacherous ridge guarded by Jean Claude-Gendarme. I’ve had a few fails when I was alone. I lose all confidence once I enter the danger zone. I had to put this goal on a shelf because warm weather and snakes prevent me from enjoying these mts this time of year but a cool storm system gave me another opportunity to try again.
Harlan joined me and his calm reassuring guidance was just what I needed to get to the top. Thank you Friend (times a billion)....The sky looked dramatic but luckily we encountered no storms. Cartwheels in the Sun is a complicated beauty with rough edges. She is part of the mountains but off on her own Island. Happy Day...Happy Birthday CITS !!!🤸🏻♂️🤸♂️🐝🌻🤗🌼🌼 @ McCullough Range.
