"4.16.24~3.2 miles, 1,000’ gain in 1:34hr from hwy. Quick workout before work. Found the reg. this time. I forgot it was small. I didnt have to practice up and down this time. Was confident at the memorization. had less butterflies in stomach on top but not enough less to enjoy a snack. Next time. Pretty day. It’s getting warm. " — paula.raimondi • Apr 16, 2024
"4.11.24~3.4 miles, 1,000’ gain, 1:53hr. This weather! I took the abbreviated approach from the hwy. I didn’t see a register this time. I did a few up and down repeats to memorized steps before going to the top since there is no rope. Always feels creepy. " — paula.raimondi • Apr 11, 2024
"9.16.23~ A Toasty 🔥 3 Peaks Combo Meal Well Done. Mtn Springs, Windy & Hollow Rock in that Order. This solo Started at 12:15pm~10 miles, 2,341’ gain in 4:28hrs. I didn’t fuss this time on Hollow Rock…went right up and down when I arrived. I haven’t done much endurance, just gym stuff, so I was happy I moved well all day and felt strong. Was nice to roam around. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 16, 2023
"9.15.23~5 ish miles, 1,300’ gain starting at noon. Temps were warm but nice with breezes.
I’m what you call a Brave Coward. Hollow Rock Peak #5 without aid up or down the rock but not because I wanted it that way. I didn’t find a reg atop, only a first aid kit. It Took 1.5 hours at the base to decide to do it. The fixed rope was gone but I was glad about that…The top anchor was also removed and I wasn’t happy about that since knowing it’s there usually gives me comfort when climbing up. I only brought a small strap of webbing so I decided just to down climb without using it since it is a short climb with great holds …but I was scared. This is an easy climb, I just overthink everything at times…mostly everyone else wouldn’t have this much to say about this cute little Hollow Rock. Rock on. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 15, 2023
"What an awesome outing .Some very fun sandstone scrambling. It would be tragic to follow someone else’s line up here. Just come out here and let the sandstone tell you where to go. Hollow rock had a fixed line on the summit block that could be avoided if one wanted. " — joshortman • Nov 28, 2022
"8.28.2021~3.2 miles RT, 1,000’ gain. My 1st time free climbing up Hollow Rock Peak! I used my webbing for the descent and to help a few menz that happened upon my day. Jimmy climbed up too. I went up and down about 5 times to demo for the menz, video and to unsnag and retrieve my cordage. Leave no trace! My altra timps are nice and sticky for the approach & for the sandstone! Great shoe! We came here today to “re-sharpen my sword” for some mountaineering projects I have. Running all the time makes me dull. Felt great to be on the warm sandstone again!

"Sadly, this peak began sprouting handlines ion 2018; it used to be a challenge. I still climb it sans handline. Many many times, last was:

"I've hiked up here several times but never climbed the boulder at the end to reach the pinnacle. It's a great scramble from Mountain Springs Trailhead and mostly all Class 1/2 although there is one spot where you have a Class 3 down move with a little bit of danger. To get to the top requires Class 4 climbing and to come back down safely you need some webbing." — LukeyPukey • Aug 22, 2019
"Holiday Hike with Harlan to Hollow Rock Peak and South Point. Harlan Belayed me up the big Rocky Peak. He harnessed me up to repel down but my repelling style was repulsive and more like an inept clumbsy downclimb with a harness on. We then went on to South Point and looped back to the car. Fun hike. Thanks Harlan for showing me tricks with ropes, taking me to 2 new peaks and getting me closer to my 100 different peak total." — paula.raimondi • Dec 1, 2017
"Parked before the normal trail to go up the backside of the Escarpment by Mountain Springs. We went up a steep road that ended near the top of the ridge, then traversed the ridge across to Hollow Rock Peak. From there, we traversed down & over to the highpoint of South Ridge, then continued along to South Peak. After a short lunch break, we backtracked a bit & found the path that started down the ridge heading NE. We found the first rap & I headed down first to a landing. Everyone else followed & we pulled the rope. Where's the next rap?! We didn't realize that the landing was only the first part of the rap, so we set up another anchor at the base of the tree, a few feet south. This was an awkward rap, but we made it & left the anchor in case anyone else makes the same mistake. The last rap was my favorite of the day! After that, we hiked back out to the wash near Blue Diamond Rd, where we had left a vehicle to shuttle us back. Fun day & perfect weather! " — Kevin • Apr 27, 2014
