"Nice trail to the base of the mountain followed by very tedious ascent in the gully on some loose rubble and scree. I wish there was more snow. Then real fun begins. Short ascent of Running Rain Peak requires some routefinding. Cornelius Rott's description is very helpful. The crux chimney reminded me Mt. Smuts, but easier. Definitely, Class 4. The rest is "moderate".
Ridgewalk to Odlum is pleasant. Little scrambling but the ridge is deadly exposed in a few places. It's not for folks with the fear of heights. For the descent, we followed Nugara advice - we descended the ridge for "a few minutes" until the obvious scree slope appeared." — Taras • Oct 14, 2024
"2peaks combo. Gully accessing col between Odlum and Running Lake peak was a bit tedious. Running Lake peak was difficult scramble in one spot (40 m vertical crack). I was able to easy locate it thanks to Cornelius’s trip report . After that moderate scramble. Next I did mount Odlum, scenic, straightforward ridge. Nugara route. I descended s ridge towards Mt Loomis ‘for a few minutes’ as book suggests than went down big scree slope. Got into steeper scramble terrain close to the bottom, it seems like more proper route goes lower down south ridge, closer to the col. Also looks like some people descend east ridge, facing more towards road and it works well for them too. " — PawelG • Oct 21, 2023
"Sea of larches. The weather was great. The ridge enjoyable. Calgary is visible from the summit. I also went up the little peak at the west end of Odlum ridge. Thinking that it might be on peakery but its not. I was doing good on time and energy and it was nice so still worth the effort to check out." — Randy • Sep 24, 2021
"I thought I would get out for a somewhat shorter day, but with the heat and smoke it was a tough go. The scree ramp is a real doozie. and to be honest after the scree ramp the ridge was up and down a bit with an intimidating looking summit block. I pressed on regardless even though I had already had enough adventure. I ran out of water and ended up getting some water from the stream downstream from the pond. At least I was drinking moving water. Probably won't be repeating this one anytime soon." — BertB • Aug 14, 2021
"CSMC trip. We started up with a dustig of snow. Made it to Running Rain Lake without any trouble. Swe then ground up the hill to go over the shoulder. We traversed over to be in front of the gully and started up. This was a rather loose gully with a lot of rubble and scree. Wew were probably 3/4 of the way up, but the ground seemed to be frozen, so we could kick in to it with boots/crampons and there was just enough snow to further slick things up and not enough snow to be useful. We might have been able to continue but it was far less than ideal, so we pulled the plug. Everyone had a good day out, so we'll call it a success anyways." — BertB • Sep 26, 2020
"biked to Odlum Pond then up slopes to Unnamed Peak GR 467937 S of Odlum, followed S ridge to summit, with J. Skvaril, Placed old "Grizzly Group" register papers from deteriorating water bottle into new register container. Had beers on summit." — KrisT • Sep 28, 1997
