"Easy day out. Not sure what the concerns are on scrambling difficulties? Both steps higher up can be bypassed lower down on 3rd class terrain. When coming up the main route sticking to the right allows access to better quality rock than the scree slog in the middle. Myself and a slightly less experienced partner summited in 3hrs 50mins at a relaxed pace with a couple of breaks. If I was solo linking little Galatea would not be unreasonable for a 10hr day" — Rocky Mountain Goats • Sep 10, 2022
"Jenna and I were the second team up the mountain that day. We ran into a group of 6, one of whom was not comfortable going to the summit. We met the other 5 just before the summit and then Jenna amd I signed the register and ate a bit. As we were about to head down, the one woman in the greater of 5 asked if we had cell reception. It turned out one man in their group had been having chest pains. They texted with KCPS, Jenna called 911 and the chopper came not long after to helisling him off the summit! Everyone else got down safely. Then we saw the bears on the way back!" — leigh-annewebster • Jul 30, 2022
"Great day on the highest peak in the Kananaskis Range. Very nice approach, but otherwise mostly a slog. We were the first to sign the summit register in 2021. Fun glissade on the way down. Lots of bugs." — yuri • Jul 10, 2021
"Dry and clear conditions. Excellent conditions for October! Went via Chester Lake, Elephant Rocks and Three Lakes Valley. Up a steep scree slope, climbers left, with Rock falls hazard. Traversed climbers left up and across several bedrock ribs , up shifting talus blocks to the summit. Arrived there late in the day, didn't hang out long, returning same way we came up. Moderate scrambling down. Got dark when we passed Chester Lake on the way back to cars; used headlamps . I want to repeat this climb ." — geoffc • Oct 3, 2020
"Great weather! Galatea should be rated as a moderate scramble, not difficult. Gusty peak should be removed from the book because it's garbage! Great views especially from Galatea - having a clear sky was a nice reset after getting hit by lightning a week ago. " — jakefinnan • Sep 7, 2019
"Very scenic scramble but the ascent is a bit monotonous for 700 vertical meters. Once on the summit ridge, there is an option to stay on the ridge for difficult scrambling through 2 cliffbands with what looked like a few low 5 class steps or to skip the cliffbands below. While Mikhail assaulted them head on, I decided to cheat and took the easier route, which is no more than "upper moderate" scrambling. " — Taras • Aug 26, 2017
"First Kane peak since June and 2 times to this peak this weekend (first time a family hike recon)...it was a quick 6 hr up and down but man that is a pile of choss even though from the valley it looks like a quick steep up...enshrouded in cloud and fresh snow/ice rime from last night...enough of that I decided to bail on adding Gusty and Fortress to the mix today." — alexjoseph • Aug 28, 2016
