"I hoped for some snow to make the ascent easier but there was none. Summer conditions. Bushwhacking is unpleasant but not the worst kind. The rest is straightforward class 2 ascent. All scrambling can be avoided." — Taras • Jun 23, 2024
"Solo trip. I took Kane gully with grey rubble close to the top, then traversed to the left side on good animal/ human trail . Scramble through the weakness in rockband higher up would rate easy rather than moderate. Fantastic views. The crux of this relatively short trip is much bushwhacking on the approach. "Had an awesome day out with Cassie, Austin, Elisabet, Bonnie and Jenna! Weather was mostly fine except for a very short-lived squall, bushwhacking was tough but not terrible and views were incredible as expected! Some group management was required in the gully with a group of our size." — leigh-annewebster • Jun 18, 2023
"Boom Mountain, Feb 26 2022. Skied and scrambled Boom mountain today. A fine outing with the option for a safer uptrack, an option for a better ski run down, some enjoyable scrambling and superb summit views. With over 20 people on Mt Whymper today, it felt nice to have this one to ourselves. A cold start at -23c, warming to -7c at the summit, minor temperature inversion. Winds picked up in the afternoon. Mostly sunny. Found ~15cm of newer mostly powder snow atop the old concrete layer, seemed to be bonding well to it. Found some isolated windslabs (5-15cm thick) on the way up near treeline with minor cracking and a whumpf, sitting atop unconsolidated snow it didn't give me too much concern. Used crampons for the scramble up/down, the snow was usually shallow enough to hit rocks with every step. The solar input was getting pretty high later in the afternoon with wet surface on S slopes. I noticed a new size 2 avalanche in one of the slide paths that appeared to be skier triggered, hope everyone is OK" — jakefinnan • Feb 26, 2022
"15.5km with 1,150m gain in 7hrs return. Perfect weather, blue skies and no wind. Temps were -30'C in the morning, to 0'C on south slopes and -10'C upon return. Snow varied, from windslab to isothermal. Track in Chickadee valley was so well beaten, that almost felt like in a resort." — alexp • Feb 18, 2019
