"The west slopes route was nice I enjoyed it. I Walked around the summit ridge for a few hours enjoying the views and the weather. On the way down, I passed someone on their way up. Around tree line I stopped to check out some boulders. " — Randy • Sep 10, 2020
"Part of a 3 Kane day (Redoubt, Anthozoan, Brachiopod) 2200m elevation gain over 24km walking. The weather seemed to go north and south of us for most of the day but cool. Went up the south side of Redoubt and descended the north. I can see why people call the north a slog. Didn't really seem to be a challenging section on this one?

"Bert joined us for the another one on the Liz project.
I ascended this 5 years ago via the Kane route. Took the Spirko variation this time. I highly recommend the Spirko route. It is quick, and easy and the views open up right away.
Nice to get out with Bert again!" — mike_rogers81 • Aug 25, 2019
"Ron and I took the Spirko route and found it no more than moderate. The approach is on the good hiking trail, the bushwhack was a bit annoying, but super short, then we went through the rocky alpine meadow to the scree slog. We followed the appropriate gully up to ridge through some blocky terrain, then took one of two possible steps up to the summit block (took the other step down). Views were sweet ... a tiny bit hazy. Ron didn't enjoy the way down and took it slowly. We didn't bike the road approach since Ron doesn't have a bike, so the walk out was a bit of a drag, but could have been worse. Weather was hot. We saw lots of people on the trail, but none on the scramble, so we had the place all to ourselves. Basically a 7-hour day including the summit break and a few times waiting on the descent for my older, but awesome buddy." — leigh-annewebster • Jul 29, 2018
"After procrastinating a bit I decided to get out of bed and get this one done. I loaded up the bike and off to Lake Louise. I parked at about 9am and got started a few minutes after that. I biked and walked the bike up the road. I got lucky and was offered a ride up by the Ski Louise staff in the truck (No, I did not ask). So 20 minutes in I was locking up my bike. I walked the trail towards Skoki and turned off, following the drainage up. The drainage led to a meadow and I went further along the drainage than Spirko did. I chose the grassy slopes as opposed to heading back in the trees. From there I slogged up the scree and rubble to the ridge. The summit block was relatively easy: Just go around on the left side and look for a weakness. It was about a 5 ft step requiring hands on, and then walking over to the cairn. I went back the same way. 5h16m car to car, including a half hour break at the summit. Conditions were good although the skies were not totally clear of clouds." — BertB • Sep 4, 2017
"Skoki Part II, Eastside Traverse: Redoubt Mountain - Heather Ridge - Brachiopod Mountain - Anthozoan Mountain - Unity Peak
Solo.
on foot: 24.1km with 2,531m gain in 10:20hrs
Total: 31.6km w 2,831m gain in 11:15hrs
Redoubt Mountain: 2,905m, 9:30am / 25mins
to tell the truth, I was thinking about doing Redoubt last week, after Ptarmigan. Coming up via Kane's route and down - Spirko's. I'm glad I didn't do that. While Spirko's line is very direct, slopes are stable and no issues there, the other one is loose as hell and have unnecessary elevation loss/gain.
Someone wrote in a register "came up via Kane's aestetic route". Completely disagree, nothing aestetic in it. Except of very short ridge walk, the rest is just loose sh… It took me an hour to loose 400m of elevation. That's slow!
It's 900m gain to the summit from Temple Lodge; took me 2 hours, i.e. roughly 450m per hour. Which means my ascent was faster than descent. That's definitely not right.
Heather Ridge: 2,691m, 12pm / 20mins
Surprisingly a long and very wide one with some misleading cairns. Had to destroy one.
Brachiopod Mountain: 2,706m, 1:10pm / 10mins
Just a straight up from a pass between Heath..." — alexp • Aug 31, 2017
"Full winter condition on Redoubt Mountain. A little bit more snow and I would be worried about the avalanche danger. We used Bob Spirko's route which worked great for the given conditions. " — Taras • Sep 24, 2016
"via N ridge to NNW ridge from Ptarmigan Lake area with A. Kane and R. Corbeil. Grizzly came into our Hidden Lake camp-site at dinner time last night and was hard to scare off." — KrisT • Aug 3, 1986
