"Main purpose: conditions. I walked Rocky Gap Road from parking at 5800', to Red Rock Summit, then to ridge. I haven't seen the west RRR in this good shape since 2005. Someone has patched a few scary washouts lower down, and filled in many bad sections above 5800'. There are still some scary sections that are off-camber, and three places that might require serious 4x4-- I would recommend at least 11" clearance, skid plates, 4 low, and good tires for the drive to or from the summit. Much less to get to 5800'. Narrower vehicle preferred, as there are lots of places above 6000', where a narrow vehicle could snake through, but a wide vehicle (CT?) might catch and grind." — hwstock • Sep 12, 2024
"My 55th time up Bridge. This is a safe peak for me, when I am recovering from medical issues. I was about 5% slower than before COVID devastated me and scarred my lungs, but I wasn't trying to rush and looked for "experimental" route changes (see pictures).
I drove up to the turn-around at 5800 feet; one spot about 200 feet from the parking (in a depression/stream crossing) is a lot worse than a year back. 4x4 HC recommended." — hwstock • May 1, 2023
