"Great route to do Nihahi and Compression Ridges, much more superior than the one published in Kane's scramble book. Enough exposure near the highpoint of Compression Ridge to justify the "difficult" rating." — Taras • Oct 9, 2021
"First time on this ridge, relatively easy going and nothing extreme besides the short 'crux' portion (take it slow if wet). No snow on the trail itself, some spots located in the scree section past the treeline. Traversed to the 4th summit and stayed for a few hours up in heaven. Beautiful clearing half way up a perfect spot for a picnic. Cloudy with slight rain towards the afternoon, decided to split before rocks got too slippery on the ridge. Misty, tranquil overcast , an overall somber tone (which I do love). Encountered 2 deer and a marmot on the trail nearing sunset (was the last party on the summit)." — Blasehead • Jun 17, 2020
"Left early to hopefully avoid any thunderstorms! Started up Ford Creek at 6:50 A.M. and summitted Nihahi in 2:45. Not a fan of the bushwhack - it was a bit wet still from previous rain. Grabbed a summit shot from Nihahi and looked at the route ahead and wondered how long it would take... The route was snow-free and most of it I tackled head-on, except for the creepy flake, which looked sketchy. I wouldn't touch that rock for fear of it crumbling under me. So, I took the bypass, which was tiring and sketchy too. Better to play it safe going solo. Enjoyed some views, then got hit by a brief thunderstorm descending from the window. I had taken Vern's GPS track up, but descended from the first window rather than continuing east along the ridge out in the open. Aimed for the drainage slightly east (skier's left) and made it work, then followed the gravel bed out until I met up with the rest of the track. Not a fan of bushwhacking or doing difficult scrambles alone, but I lived to tell. My boyfriend was not happy about this, however. I suggested that he join me for the rest of the Kane book if it's a problem LOL!!" — leigh-annewebster • Jun 15, 2019
"solo ascended on a warm day with a hangover after too many drinks at the campsite the night before.
glad to finally reach the true summit after a failed attempt years prior.
the summit ridge seemed to take forever as I kept looking for the cairn to make the true peak." — MarkJPerkins • Jun 27, 2015
"Full traverse lots of scrambling with all the ups and downs along the way. An awkward feeling at the crux for a second but all was good and made it down. Although tired I did enjoy some of the sights along nihahi creek like canyons and wide open spaces. A good day!" — Randy • May 23, 2015
"A solo trip. I went to the bitter end of Nihahi Ridge to complete the traverse. The register could use replacing as it was soaked with water. Since Powderface Trail is closed, I decided to walk off the summit to the SW, eventually ending up in Nihahi Creek. From there it was a walk out along Nihahi Creek to Nihahi Creek Trail, to Little Elbow Trail." — BertB • Aug 11, 2014
"Another time! More relaxed pace than previous trips. Lots of sun, almost no wind. Lucy and Myself. Met a group of three near the top and had lunch with them, then a nice scree run down as usual. Elevation gain for the trip 850m, YTD 49755m." — MtnJohn • Sep 21, 2012
"A nice fall trip with a few clouds and light wind. 2h15m to ridge, then about 5 minutes of fast scree down the west slope and just another 20 minutes to the road. Randy and Myself. Elevation gain for the trip 850m, YTD elevation gain 47255m." — MtnJohn • Sep 9, 2012
"A nice early trip here. less snow than expected at the rock band getting onto the ridge. A very busy place, more than I remember any other time. At least 12 can be seen in the picture taken near the summit. Mostly sunny and +3c at the start going up to +14c at the summit and later. A cool wind at times while going up, but a great day. Came down the scree slope as usual, getting better all the time. Randy, Jim, Myself. Elevation gain for the trip 850m, YTD elevation gain 25860m." — MtnJohn • May 20, 2012
"First time here for Dave. Lucy wanted to have him do it before the gate closed for the winter. Lucy, Dave, Kati, Myself. Elevation gain for the trip 930m, YTD elevation gain 39663m." — MtnJohn • Oct 2, 2011
