"Went up the canyon at the north end of Pinto Ridge, up over Jean's Peak, then Mount Graybeard, then descended into what I call the spooky slots. That canyon, which sits between Pinto Ridge & another pretty ridge, is stunning but very rough. " — StudioHoodoo • Dec 21, 2025
"Parked at the area where there was once an emergency phone. Hiked up the pretty canyon across the road & on up the ridge to Jean's Peak & then to Mount Greybeard. Descended Greybeard & hiked all the way over to Pinto Ridge highpoint. Descended back to the lower part of ridge, then down into the pretty canyon that runs between Pinto Ridge & a lower ridge. I looped back through that canyon all the way back to my Jeep. That canyon is rough, but so pretty. There is nothing beyond class 2, but it is rough & tiring. I had to climb out several times to get around dead ends/obstacles. I love this loop & have done variations several times. " — StudioHoodoo • Dec 30, 2023
"Went out to White Owl canyon with Kelley & her daughter who was in town for a few days. Afterward, went up to Mount Graybeard & sat & sketched for several hours. It was such a pretty day. Got a tick though." — StudioHoodoo • Jan 26, 2020
"This was a beautiful, short hike to see Dylan off with. We saw a heard of bighorn sheep near the summit & discovered a large cairn & register naming a nearby point as Jean's Peak, after a local hiker that had passed away several years ago. The way we took up was a bit spicier than the descent." — Kevin • Nov 24, 2019
"Hiked up the canyon with the 3 arch cave on the east end, up & over, back down into slot canyons below in Pinto Valley back to Northshore Road. I've done this one many times, many ways." — StudioHoodoo • Jan 7, 2018
