"Ascended via NE ridge. Non-stop difficult scrambling and climbing at 5.3-5.4. Very nice, clean and aesthetic way to summit Mount Bell. Compared to dirty, loose and boring scramble route on the other side )). Also tagged the minor peak to the SE of the main summit. About 250m vertical extra. Great day with the mandatory swim in O'Brien Lake and a picnic lunch at Taylor lake." — antons • Sep 5, 2025
"Ascended by NE ridge. Lower class 5 terrain, climber's scramble with route finding, severe exposure. Descending: moderate scramble through rocks field, steep scree, bushwhacking, finally hiking by nice trail to the parking. " — hiker64 • Aug 10, 2025
"Mount Bell NE Ridge.
This was a fun but very challenging route that we underestimated.
We did two pitches, 50m and 40m long, respectively. Both pitches had multiple sections of 5.4-5.5 climbing.
The rest of the route is about 600m of sustained 4th class with many short sections of low 5th class. The route required lots of tedious route finding to avoid more technical terrain." — yuri • Sep 9, 2023
"Attempted South Ridge but turned back at the 5.3 slab section due to rain, lightning, and a reason to live.
We rappelled the gulley on the south side of the ridge, following a drainage directly below the slab section. Two rappels. 60m rope would suffice. " — ivo • Jun 27, 2023
"Taylor approach. A little snow below the col was good for kick stepping up and a quick glissade down. Stayed closer to the ridge then Alan Kane suggests in his picture. Scrambled up the chimneys to get to the easier ridge. Went left around pinnacles there was a lot of loose rock I think right might have been better not sure. GPS is my descent route." — Randy • Aug 5, 2018
"It had snowed the previous day and we started out in the clouds. Shortly after, we got in the sun. Because we used the Boom Lake approach, we had south facing slopes and the snow that had fallen prior was soon gone. We had to keep low as to avoid false summits. Great day, great views." — BertB • Aug 22, 2015
"Awesome approach and ridge.Descent not as fun with loose scree and then boulders then bushwack back to trail. Left car park at ~7am. Back at car by ~6pm.
