"Ski tour. I followed , more or less , summer trail to North Molar Pass. I had broken trail for the first 6 km of the trail, trail breaking another 6. Sticky snow in places . I left my skis and boot packed 300 m or so, vertical to the summit. Ridge was wind blown, very little or no snow. Great weather, fantastic views, moderate windy at the top. On my way down I noticed group of 4 skiers coming to the pass from the other side. I met them at the pass, they were on their day 4 , doing Drummond glacier traverse. Summit register shows this easy peak is quite busy in the summer but not in the winter. I think it’s good winter objective too in stable conditions. Some overhead avi danger on the way to the pass. One short traverse of avalanche slope , maybe 80 m long just below the col. But it’s relatively safer than many other objectives of this height in the area. " — PawelG • Apr 13, 2024
"Tackled Molarstone peak on my two night 3 day trip up through North molar pass. Spent the first night at the mosquito campground, packed up and headed up North molar pass. From there I ditched the pack and went up Molarstone peak before coming down to Fish lakes for the next night. We hiked back to the car from there. AMAZING hike. Probably the best meadows I have ever walked through. The peak itself is good to go. I ended up ascending Molarstone a little early from the pass. I should have went along the pass a little further before starting the ascent, would have been a bit less loose. Though most of the ascent is rather unpleasant from the pass to the peak, it can be done quickly, I went to the summit and back in about an hour and a half or something like that. It is ABSOLUTELY worth the slog though. Some of the best views I have ever had. Next time I do this mountain, taking the ridge would likely be far more enjoyable. " — Slogenstein • Jul 18, 2022
