"Traverse from Gunnery-Holy Cross to Mt Head. Winter conditions but spring weather made for a beautiful day. It’s a challenging ridge when you have to stick to it due to avy danger/snow covering possible bypasses but it is doable. Expect 5th class for sure. In the summer it would be much easier and less post holing
I also linked up to sentinel pass" — Rocky Mountain Goats • Mar 16, 2024
"Feli and I snowshoed up today, breaking a decent trail up the ridge. Some deep drifts and deeper pockets in the trees to break! Up to the summit in 1:43. Took a lunch break at the top and back down. Good weather, good views and quiet trail today. " — leigh-annewebster • Jan 13, 2018
"Was hoping to do Holy Cross, but that didn't look very promising, so we curtailed out plans and did Gunnery Mountain and the ridge traverse to the north of it. Returned using the Holy Cross approach." — BertB • Nov 6, 2016
"Well..... Today's summit got off to a shaky start with heavy rain and lots of thunder and lightning. So I abandoned the original objective of Mount Barwell. Drove home regrouped and decided to instead aim to summit Mount Gunnery and barely over three hours and 11 KM later I had made it to the summit of Gunnery and back to my car. Walked through a cloud a rainstorm and a thunder storm during the process." — TBird • Jul 15, 2016
"Quite enjoyable hike for this time of year, but very short. To make it more rewarding, we descended NE slopes, ascended an unnamed summit west of Grass Pass, descended to the Pass and went up Bull Creek Hills. " — Taras • Jan 24, 2016
