"Turn off from Hunter road was taped off, there's more snow and ice than my car could handle anyway. The walk from Hunter valley road to the trail head is quick and easy. After that snowshoes to the ascent ridge. the ridge is mostly dry. Pick either difficult, moderate or easy line through the rock wall. Bonus Fallen peak. Short easy hike. Fallen peak views are better than Ghost's in my opinion))" — antons • Mar 6, 2026
"After squeezing through under the chokestone, I found myself at the difficult scramble fairly quickly. Their were a few options I was looking at. The one at the end of the line climbers right felt very exposed with solid rock but only two small footholds on the face of the cliff with an odd transition to the top. The other option just to the left was the one I took. It felt slightly less exposed, straight up with bigger ledges to climb. Some of the rock here was loose. Or a third option, turn around, and find the easier route. Once I reached the summit, I had a well-deserved break, then descended the easier option and made my way to Fallen Peak." — Randy • May 27, 2025
" 23 km, 12 hours. Snow on the trail with up to the knee, no snowshoes, moderate scramble in snow conditions through cliff bands. Scree before summit. Left car on Hunter Valley Road. Walked additional 6 km. " — hiker64 • Mar 22, 2025
"Great season starter for 2023. Perfect weather for a winter outing. The route through the first cliff band was mixed snow climbing, but otherwise a snowshoe and scree slog. Second cliff band could be walked around with some easy route finding." — yuri • Jan 4, 2023
"Originally, I had invited 5 people to join. The weather didn't seem appealing to two of them and one had a family emergency, so it ended up just being the ladies (Jenna, Kate, me). Did we ever luck out! Not a drop of rain until we were eating ice cream in Cochrane after a successful day. The approach is long and marshy, then you get onto a decent trail with some bypasses of a few puddles, then as you gain the elevation the trail is good and dry although occasionally braided. We arrived at what we coined Marmot Meadows for obvious reasons, had a bit of lunch, snack, then proceeded to the col. There is a lot of good hands-on and we probably tried a few different things, but alas, it should only remain moderate and we just wrapped around the cliffs to climber's left and then slogged up to the summit! Views were good with no rain in sight. We opted not to do Fallen Peak, so maybe another day in the shoulder season... it was actually quite hot on the way back with the sun beating down on us and I drank my entire 2Ls. I got a very light burn on my arms too. Another great day scrambling! I am happy to be back now that we are done Stephan's spring course. Hopefully, things dry out soon a..." — leigh-annewebster • Jun 18, 2022
"Ghost peak attempt. Knee deep snow all the way from the car. It took us 4 hours to snowshoe 7 km to the tree-line and it was too late in the day at that point. We’ll hopefully return next week to use the trail we broke and make the summit" — yuri • Jan 23, 2022
