"Went to see if the deep canyon was passable as a route to the Highpoint, but it was blocked by a tiered dryfall, which wasn't dry. Potentially passable with some climbing moves if dry. Used a side canyon to get to the Highpoint, but the GPX I used stopped short of the actual highpoint, and I had to top out on 3 potential highpoints until finding the correct one. Thank you to Paula Raimondi for placing the register! Also summited Fire Cliffs Peak, Lego Peak, Peak 2421, Baby Hammerhead, and its subpeak, which I'm gonna call Baby Shark. (And Northshore Summit on the way in, but I'm not gonna count that.) Total round trip of about 6 hours, which involved some routefinding and register signing and picture taking. About 12 miles with total elevation gain of about 2700 ft." — tracyt • Jan 29, 2026
"Happy September from the Bowl of Fire (again!) 4 new Peaks. Bowl View Peak, 2,421’, Baby Hammerhead & Fire Cliffs Peak with a jog back on a new (to me) scenic part of Callville Wash…This savage landscape has been through violent turmoil and it feels the same trekking through it. Thick cloud cover allowed me to trek 6.5 miles, 1,600’ gain for 3:34hrs without risk of death from the Summer heat. Each of these rarely visited peaks have the most amazing, jaw dropping views of the Bowl of Fire & Fire Cliffs. My mind was blown. I stepped next to a baby rattlesnake. It coiled and then slithered off, paused, stuck its head up, sniffed (do they sniff?) and looked my way as if to detect I was gone. It was really cute, since it was small. Great day! Baby Hammerhead was the bomb Stav! Nice find!" — paula.raimondi • Sep 1, 2021
"Hiked the East Bowl of Fire loop and tacked on Fire Cliffs Peak to the end of our loop. The ascent was sketchy and the descent wasn't much better. Best approach would be from the south gully. " — Kevin • Dec 1, 2020
