"A repeat mountain but well worth the repeat, my previous summit of Fairview was on skis in the winter. Easy hiking up this one with a nice roomy summit, would be beautiful during larch season. 10.8km 1010m gain in just over 5 hours (including 1 hour summit stay)." — hollywilliams • Jun 29, 2025
"Sunrise summit on Fairview. A perfect peak for this if you can stomach paying $37 for the absolute "privilege" to park your car here at 2am while all of the commercial vehicles get to rake in the profits and park here for free in the name of conservation.........
2.5hrs up at conversational pace, could push that if you needed to. " — jakefinnan • Jun 29, 2025
"Summit of Fairview on skis, although had to use crampons to gain the summit as the snow was bullet proof. Warmer the higher you go. Skied down the bowl between Fairview and it's outlier to the SW, then up and onto Surprise Pass. The skiing was absolutely horrible but happy to have knocked this one off the ski to-do list!" — hollywilliams • Dec 5, 2020
"it's winter up there. started with Saddle Mtn, went up in snow storm. The skies cleared, and we had great views from the top of Fairview. Snos went from knee to hip deep in some pockets. There was a good track to the pass, fairly easy up Saddle, we finished breaking in a trail after two others went up Fairview. Quick descent thanks to some glissading. We considered avalanche hazard, and deemed it safe. This could easily change. " — apfelstrudel • Oct 19, 2019
"Alberta. 1 day hike. Started at Lake Louise, went on to Lake Annette and through Sentinel Pass (nice scramble!) to end at Moraine Lake. Avalanche area in woods after Mt Fairview. People climbing pilar next to Sentinel Pass. Hitchhiked back." — Pieter • Jul 5, 2017
"Mostly a hike to the summit, with very straightforward and obvious switchbacks up the rock/scree side. What started off as a very overcast day with zero visibility turned out to be fairly lovely about halfway up, offering partial views of the lake and Victoria glacier " — cfree • Aug 28, 2016
"joined a Slow and Steady hikers on Meetup. Beautiful day, took the quicker descent route. Encountered a Japanese woman not wearing the correct shoes who was lost and teary. Our group spent 1hr+ assisting her down. " — MarkJPerkins • Aug 15, 2016
"Great way to start off the summer by heading up Fairview! Toughest part of the day is getting to the Lake Louise parking lot early enough to make sure you can get parking! Besides that though it is a beautiful day hike that allows the inexperienced to appreciate the views without having to endure too much." — snowsurfer • Jul 4, 2015
"Family trip with 7-month old one. The trail is dry except of a few spots before the pass. Quite a number of people on it.
2:55hrs move time, 3:50 car to car.
The view wasn't very fair at the summit; got some snowflakes during the ascent. " — alexp • Jun 13, 2015
"Took the Saddleback trail from Lake louise. Snowshoed to the col between Saddle Mountain and Fairview Mountain. Took a rock rib up to closer to the summit. Was high avalanche conditions and snow was very unstable as we heard loud woomfing and cracking. We made the summit and came back down. (We traversed over to the summit from the rock when we were high above the gully. On our way back down some skiers took our route up; but when we told them to avoid the gully they did not listen and triggered a class 2 avalanche. We bagged Saddle mountain on the way back. And saw the avalanche come down when we were on the summit of Saddle." — dkmountainman • Feb 28, 2012
