"Last 20m before the summit offer interesting Class 3 climbing ("upper moderate" scramble); the rest is a walk-up. This walk-up shouldn't be taken lightly. From Commonwealth-Pig's Tail's Col, the scramble route follows a very steep and loose ramp to the backside of the mountain and then up a loose gully. Rockfall danger is a real issue. If I were to do it again I would come in the late season when the scree is frozen." — Taras • Sep 28, 2017
"Ron, Brent and I did a Sunday scramble this weekend. No one else was on the mountain. Went one at a time down the gully since it's so loose. Wildflowers were great. Ron made it up, but didn't do the summit ridge. Brent and I went to the summit. Views were spectacular and the smoke from forest fires hadn't yet penetrated the Burstall area." — leigh-annewebster • Jul 16, 2017
"Good weather, bushwhacked up through dense trees too close to the drainage. The scree was somewhat relentless, but the views were certainly worthwhile. Commonwealth gets the thumbs up for the views." — BertB • Jun 26, 2016
"After work solo ascent. Left parking lot at 5:40pm. Back at car at 9:30pm. Nice bike with snow just melted out. Crappy upper scree slopes and scary more than moderate gully to narrow summit as I find out now that I took the 5th class (Dow) route as opposed to walking a little further to the scrambly ramp." — alexjoseph • Jun 1, 2015
