"CSMC club trip. We skinned up under cloud cover. When we got to Burstall Pass, Snow Peak looked intimidating with steep slopes. One would have had to ski down the south facing bowl, or along the SE ridge. Since most of the group had not done Burstall Pass Peak we opted for that instead as the slopes were much more mellow. The snow conditions were a bit crusty, but when we got closer to the parking lot the snow had softened up. The snow stability was all there." — BertB • May 1, 2021
"Challenging skiing on the icy crust above the treeline. Survival skiing in the canyon. Wasted probably more than an hour to find a lost ski. Oh well, at least it was a nice day out. I stayed on the summit in a T-shirt." — Taras • Apr 17, 2021
"Took a day off to enjoy a weather window; it's great to be back on skis.
22.5km with 1,240m gain in 6:40hrs return.
It's possible to skin up Snow Peak south slopes with ski crampons
Some people definitely started way too late." — alexp • May 5, 2020
"Best refreeze ever, bulletproof, no boot pen. Nice ridgewalk. A bit early for corn skiing but a fast exit. Amazing day out! All photos in infrared since my main camera is being repaired. " — jakefinnan • May 2, 2020
"23.5km with 1,260m gain in 7hrs return.
Perfect weather, pretty much no wind at all. Hard packed snow by Snow Peak, had to boot-pack last 150m gain. Really wanted to have my ski and boot crampons.. and ice axe (conveniently forgotten in a garage). Though it was easier to descend than I expected.
Planned to do Burstall Pass summit traverse, north to south but looked tricky to get to the north ridge and on the ridge itself. " — alexp • Jan 20, 2019
