"3.34.2021~Solo, Sunrise Mtn/AFB, 9 Peak Extravaganza (CCW Loop). 10.25 miles, 4,500’ gain in 6:55hrs. The Minefield, The Triple, The Double, Coyote Skull, Sunrise Mtn. North Summit, Sunrise Mtn., 2,960’, Unity & Division Peaks. Gosh, that was an a$$ kicker. Trekking on carnivorous limestone for that many hours was punishing. My feet are pulverized. It was warm but with cool breezes but some sections in the valley were hot. The wind diminished in the afternoon, so I eventually had to ration my 1.5 liters of water. Stunning area! "While on our way to another hike, we decided to change the plan last minute. I saw that there was a geocache on an outcrop near Unity Peak. Since Amber hadn't been up there, we decided to give it a go. We took a new (to me) route directly up to a sub-peaklet SE of the main summit for the geocache, then dropped to a saddle and made our way up to the summit ridge, which we followed west to the main summit. After a short break, we descended the SW ridge to a saddle, then followed the wash back out. Kelly Ashe had a group on Unity & Division today too. We were able to see them most of the way." — Kevin • Feb 7, 2021
"Took the short hike up this one from Lake Mead Blvd. It was warm & smoky, but I really enjoyed the views. Need to go back for Division Peak, since I had to return home to watch the Steelers victory! :-) I parked near an old road that is on maps heading north & followed it out toward the peaks. Hooked left & went due west up the gully between Unity & Division. From the saddle, I took the SSW ridge to the top." — StudioHoodoo • Oct 18, 2020
"Hiked up to Point 2980 with Amber, Mike & Emily. On the way back, Mike & I also bagged Unity Peak and Division Peak. It was super windy in the morning, but calmed down as the day went on. We saw a turkey vulture circling over Point 2980 and a baby rattlesnake on our way back." — Kevin • Mar 26, 2016
