"After studying the 3D map in peakery, pieced together this, ah, unconventional Headlands trailrun loop. Steep, rough, overgrown paths with many patches of poison oak. Rodeo Valley Stables > Hawk Hill bunker > down a moderately treacherous, rarely-traveled path to Kirby Cove > up a direct offtrail path climbing Slacker Hill's south ridge to the summit, down an obscure path on Slacker's west ridge > back down the Coastal Trail. Rushed home to apply Technu but alas I think 'twas too late. " — scott • Mar 31, 2021
"South Marin Highlands Loop from Morning Sun Trail including Richardson, Slacker Hill, Hawk Hill, Hill 88, FAA Hill, and other minor bumps. A beautiful fall day that made me want to get out on the Pacific." — klotito • Nov 27, 2020
"Easy parking just off of the 101, below Spencer Point. Started on the California Coastal Trail which is also part of the ADT California Segment 9 and the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Proceeded north to the Slacker Trail (also part of the California Costal Trail). Took a left and headed south west. Was going to head up smaller unnamed hill on way to Slacker Hill, but found route was closed, Golden Gate Raptor Observatory doing studies in the area. So continued on to Slacker Ridge Trail and made way to the summit. Amazing views of the whole Bay Area with out all the people around jumping in and out of their cars. Headed back down to the Slacker Trail. Continued on to Hawk Hill using Conzelman Road. Again amazing views. Hawk Has several tunnels, bunkers and concrete pads, remnants of a missile site. Used Conzelman back down to the truck. Great weather, in the 50’s, partly cloudy, no rain. " — Mtstalker • Dec 19, 2019
"Had a friend in SF and she was looking for a easy hike with a great view of the city, so I suggested Slacker Hill. Had some trouble finding the correct trailhead due to confusing road signs etc. If you google Coastal trail parking and restroom it will take you to the trailhead.
The trails have been rerouted making the hike an easy 1 mile round trip. Start on the SCA trail cross over the road and then bear right up the Slacker Ridge Trail to the summit. " — Zardoz • Aug 23, 2019

"Short climb up on a perfect Feb day. Checked out both summits... while the north summit looks higher to the eye, got a higher GPS reading on south summit. So still unclear which is higher. Biggest unsolved mystery in history. " — scott • Feb 26, 2017
"Stunning trailrun in late afternoon to finish the Marin Headlands 5 Peak Challenge by summiting Slacker Hill. Started out by immediately redlining up the steep Morning Sun Trail, checked out the summit of Richardson East, then took the awesome singletrack SCA trail over to Slacker. Took it easy and enjoyed the scenery... the intense greens of the hills and blues of the bay in the "golden hour" kept me stopping constantly for photo opps. Views from the broad dirt summit of Slacker are ridiculously awesome... it's a full frontal view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay, and San Francisco. Then to top off a remarkable day, a fair-sized bobcat greeted me before flying into the brush. If you weigh less than 20 pounds, be careful out there!" — scott • Apr 23, 2016
