"The plan was Sparrowhawk, but I started later in the morning and there was more snow than expected in the gulley. If supportive, it might have made for a quick climb, but I was worried about the post-hole-annoyance-factor while descending after the sun warming the snow slope. Plus, I didn't have my gators. Another climber was on their way to Sparrowhawk, and it looked like they had no issues in the gulley. Read's Tower was a great consolation for my change in plan. I was able to mostly avoid snow until ~2400 meters. At that point I had to step-kick my way to the summit. I took an extended break and enjoyed the views with the extra time I had." — ivo • Jun 8, 2024
"Got caught in a snowstorm (in August!) above 2750m. Summit was freezing, but we managed to make it. The descent was nearly a whiteout so we used a compass to find the route. Ascended Read's Tower afterwards and got some blue skies towards the end of the trip. 8 hour round trip. " — nathanwatt • Aug 8, 2020
"Solo ascent. New snow trail had been broken via the west slopes of Read's Ridge so the first section was pretty much steep uphill side hiking. Snow was deeper along Read's Ridge requiring snowshoes and then changing over to Icers for the last bit up Read's Tower." — Mountainman • Nov 28, 2015
