"
Cold but sunny day in the Sierra de Ricote, I started the route with 4 degrees Celsius and when I returned it had only risen to 5.
I bought a homemade bread and something to put inside to eat on top. At the beginning of the route they had been carrying out forestry work and there were remains of cut wood. I have seen an eagle, mountain goats and earth moved by wild boars, while I was crossing the forests on the way to the summit. The descent is towards the Paso de las Thermopylae where a small map indicates where you are." — franciscobirruezo • Jan 28, 2023

"I go to this mountain looking for tranquility and pure air. I climb Pico 855 m first in La Sierra de Ricote, the forest is greener than the last time I walked here. I see some wild daffodils as I climb the west edge. I have lunch at the top before going down the east side and make a circular route. I then go to Piedra Bermeja following a forest trail, the rocky ridges soften and the landscape looks drier. This peak is not spectacular, but the silence and the peace it conveys encourage me to meditate for a while on its summit.
Upon returning I decide to go through the Almeces Peak that due to its prominence has good views of the surrounding fields." — franciscobirruezo • Feb 15, 2020

"EL Sendero del Barranco en La Sierra de Ricote brings us closer to this magnificient peak. Here the earth's crust split leaving quite sharp ridges.
The north side was burned in a fire.
We meet cyclists but no hiker.
Upon our return we pass through Ricote and we see an olive tree of more than 1000 years.
I have changed to a cell phone with a better camera, I hope it is noticed." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 7, 2018
