"I have to admit I'm a bit lazy to climb this mountain because it has very steep slopes and limestone boulders everywhere. But on the way up, I have a good time because I have shade on the east side and a strong, cool wind blowing at my back. The views are also wonderful, overlooking several thousand square miles from above." — franciscobirruezo • Aug 3, 2025
"I'm going alone to La Atalaya de Cieza , after two really hot days today the temperatures are milder and a strong wind is blowing from the east. I go up the zig zag on the east side that continues along a really steep stone block channel. The luck is that it is 7 p.m. and the peak itself provides me with its shade. At the top I take some panoramic views and head to two other nearby peaks separated from La Atalaya by a small forest.
When I went down I realized that this peak projects its shadow exactly on the Cieza castle and it seems like an incredible coincidence." — franciscobirruezo • Jul 22, 2024
"Today I go up to La Atalaya de Cieza by a path on the north slope that I located on the Peakery maps. Indeed I find the route that begins with a gentle slope but later becomes almost a vertical path with many climbs where you have to be careful. The views are really good of the city of Cieza and its fruit fields, also of the surrounding mountains.
I took lunch as usual and I enjoyed it in the tranquility of the summit where today I have not seen almost anyone because there was no sporting event on the mountain." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 26, 2023
"It's a good day today and I decided to go to the Atalaya de Cieza, I also set my feet on the Peaks of 563 m and 541 m.
This small mountain is an authentic rock fortress quite demanding. If you mess up, they'll have to rescue you in helicopter. A trail crushes lungs up the east side, first zig zag and then there is climbing a chimney. In the upper area a small forest joins the three peaks, sitting on a stone and in the shade I have eaten a sandwich to regain strength for the descent (remember that at the top you always have 50% of the route)
I think I have suffered less than the previous time in the month of September 2017" — franciscobirruezo • Apr 27, 2019
"From The Atalaya Peak in Cieza I have walked to the Peak 563 m. After crossing the pine forest you have to take care and do not put your leg between the big rocks. In the end I regretted going back because I was having a good time." — franciscobirruezo • Sep 15, 2017
