"Peaks 3,510’ & 3,340’ ~Eldorado Wilderness. Epic. Forget about the DV Super bloom! This area is peaking with mesmerizing colorful blooms right now! 7 miles, 2,300’ gain in 4:52hrs. My office on wheels, lil’ Red Car was MVP today, helping me shave 3 miles off of this rough, long and lonesome route deep in the Eldorado Wilderness. I recon’d the dirt roads yesterday for private property and noticed it wasn’t and the roads were benign and well groomed for the Nelson off road tours they are used for. I parked at the end of the good dirt roads and took an old 4by road to a wide wash that led to the middle of both peaks. I had some navigational issues up to the saddle between the two peak. The topo did me dirty and showed this path up but it put me atop a crumbly knife edge that was dangerous. 30 min of my time was killed retreating & rerouting into the gully. 3,510’ was 1st and looked like a no-brainer but ended up being scary near the top with an exposed ledge and some climbing. Nothing crazy but I haven’t challenged myself with new and different peaks in the last few years so it felt low grade creepy. 3,340’ looked like the terrible one but was easier.
