"Same route up as previously. After the summit tried to head down the ridge to the smaller peak but left it too late in the day to do so safely. No discernible path, boulder strewn ridge, thick vegetation. Will try a different route next time. So turned back and skirted round the mountain following an animal track." — vygodski • Feb 17, 2018
"Very pleased to climb this, the closest significant hill to where I live when in Italy. Half the height is easily reached by a gravel road called the "tedesco" path, possibly because it was built by the Germans during WWII, which I took from Tufette. From the highest point of this, there is no man-made path to the summit and the going is tough in places - through thick undergrowth and boulders underfoot. The summit is interesting, there is evidence of walls and ramparts in a circular form - there is a circular depression at the very top - that suggests a fort or outpost of some sort once stood at this place. This would be consistent with the little known about Acquapuzza, upon the lower reaches of which there was once a citadel of sorts, and a barracks, which defended the route past the mountains, all that remains of which is a tower - the rest of the settlement long since destroyed, partly due, I imagine, to the quarrying next to it. I left it too late in the day to explore more of the summit but will do so when I approach it next time from Sezze to the East. Peakery has the elevation as 609 meters, maps show it as 612m, but my companion's smart phone recorded 660m. Go figure." — vygodski • Feb 8, 2018
