"These two peaks were pretty low on my priority list, but the weather was pretty crappy & I needed to get out, so decided on these because they are short & quick. There is much better stuff to do in the Lake Mead area! Anyway, I parked in the wash & headed up Mine View Peak first. There is no real reason to climb this "peak" unless you are in the area & want some extra exercise. Next, I headed over to Polytick & went up a gully on the WSW side, then I scrambled up the block on top & across the narrow ridge. The ridge is very narrow in places & it was extremely windy up there. It was pushing me around. I left my pack on a wider section & just quickly went to the summit & back. Didn't even look for a register. Polytick has nice views toward Bowl of Fire." — StudioHoodoo • May 19, 2019
"1.28.19. LMNRA 4 Peak Combo Happy Meal. Mountaineer Monday. “Keeping the blade edge sharp Grasshopper”. 7.2 miles, 2,100’ gain. Murphy’s & Little Murphy’s Peak traverses, Polytick & Mine View Peaks...and a teeny bit of Bowl of Fire. I blasted off from Northshore Rd and was to the top of Murphy’s Peak in a strong fast effort of :42 min. The rest of the hike I took my time and cruised for 4:52hrs total. Super rough and sharp terrain but I came equip with my lucky (and protective) sailor pants! Fun to get back out in the Desert and trek around. I can’t say enough about how colorful, stunning and pristine it is out here. What a gem in our backyard. Warm sunshine and nice breezes today. Bighorn sheep too!" — paula.raimondi • Jan 28, 2019
"After yesterday's tough 19 mile day, we were going to go snowshoeing, but it was going to be waaaaaay too cold. We opted for a nice day out at Lake Mead bagging some minor peaks instead. The weather was overcast & rainy, but we prevailed. These peaks were fun & challenging with some amazing views of the Fire Cliffs & Bowl of Fire." — Kevin • Mar 1, 2015
