"A gorgeous day in Kananaskis. King Creek Ridge to Mt Hood was pretty straight forward with the trip reports online. I thought there would be more scrambling on Hood, but I suppose it’s optional. I attempted an alternate descent down the west face that didn’t pan out. It might be doable, but I kept running into cliffs I didn’t want to down climb, having not climbed up them. 4 out of 5 people I met on my descent convinced me to not go back the creek. So I returned over the ridge. This all ended up adding 400m to my day. 12km, 1,800m in 6.5 hours made for a good fitness day and two peaks with awesome views!" — ivo • Sep 28, 2024

"Up King Creek Ridge and across the saddle to the west face of Mount Hood, pretty well snow covered with questionably warm snow making things a bit slidy. Left through King Creek and ended up having to walk through the creek due to high water levels " — corbinruthven • Jun 18, 2022

"Had to take advantage of another day off and beat the afternoon showers, so went looking for a nice hike in Kananaskis and found the perfect one! Besides the steep beginning, once you are on the ridge itself it is a beautiful hike with unreal views in all directions. I will for sure come back in another season to get a better sense of the views as it was a bit cloudy at times but still great ridge. " — snowsurfer • Jun 24, 2020

"Had no issues following the trail all the way up to the false summit. However I didnt like the look of how much snow there was further on towards the summit so I made the false summit my summit for the day. It was a beautiful day in the rockies regardless!" — Slogenstein • Nov 30, 2019

"Steep hike up. Descended to king creek. On the way out seen a nice trail going up a grassy slope, I had to check it out. I'm guessing it is the approach for Mount Blane I hiked up to 2400 meters things started getting airy. Satisfied with exploring this trail I returned to the creek. Once back at the creek I had six not so easy log crossing, three wall hug traverses one involving a log. Three fords which was good cause I found a tick when I rolled my pants up. It was a good day!" — Randy • Jun 16, 2017

"Summited with a group of 14 from the Calgary Mountaineering and Scrambling Club. The day began sunny and gorgeous turning to overcast by late morning and staying that way throughout the scramble. Freezing cold at the summit. Enjoyed a challenging little walk down the east chute and out via creek and canyon." — Mountainman • Nov 4, 2012

"The front ranges of the rockies were drying out a bit. So we decided to get up King Creek Ridge. We descended the opposite side of the ridge. There was an avalanche shoot on that side. " — dkmountainman • Apr 25, 2012

"I celebrated Hallowe'en a day early! The hat and cape worked fine but the broom got in the way especially when we were scrambling down a sketchy section. A friend ended up carrying the broom for me." — makingwaves • Oct 30, 2010
