"Harlan & I came out here to potentially do 4 peaks as a loop. After Shagged, I wasn't feeling very energetic, so Harlan headed to Ragged, while I continued slowly to Jagged Peak, my main objective of the day, where we were supposed to meet back up. Instead of going up the south ridge of Jagged, like I had planned, I decided to follow the drainage to a point below the main summit, then make my ascent. The rock was surprisingly stable. After waiting at the summit for a while, and not hearing answers to any of my calls, I decided to continue on the ridge towards Haggard, so I could have a better view of the ridge that Harlan was supposed to be coming up. I also kept trying to look towards the Jeep, to see if maybe Harlan turned back. Finally, I spotted him on the ridge, heading up towards Jagged! I took my pack off and waited until he caught up to me. Once together, Harlan told me how slow-going that south ridge was. I'm glad I changed my route! We both decided we were too haggard to do Haggard, so we made our way back to the Jeep. Fun day in a remote area. " — Kevin • Jan 1, 2022

"Great way to start the new year. Plantar Fasciitis to start off, but it was totally tamed by the end off the day. In the 30'sF all day, some wind. Without thinking about it too much, I decided to add on Ragged, then meet Kevin down in the wash. When I looked at the route. I realized I was adding 1.5 miles and 1000' of gain, so I started to rush. But when I hit the ridge to Jagged, staying on the top brought me down to about 1.2 mph. I recommend that if someone wants to do this route as a "run," s/he should stay in the wash east of the jagged south ridge as long as possible. Thanks Kevin for a great idea and amiable company and conversation." — hwstock • Jan 1, 2022
