"Start by crossing the river. It was thigh deep January 1st 2026. I had a tough time finding any sort of trail to start. I used an All Trails map and attempted to follow the line, but even with that, it's just moss on a steep hill. I probably hiked up 150m before I found a faint trail and marking tape. On my way out, I noticed a trail entrance that was clearly marked with flagging, but it was much farther East than where I started. Anyone heading out, should cross the creek, walk towards the low cliff band to where there is a small pond, keep traversing East and find your way over the creek running out of the pond. When you're are on top of the river bank on the other side, look for a slash that used to be available for ATVs, AB Parks has rutted it up and placed logs over it to prevent use, follow that and eventually you will find the trail entrance on your right I previously referred to.

The summit is treed, without the pink box and rock pile, you wouldn't even know you were th..." — justinj • Jan 1, 2026
"An after work special with brother Alex. I wasn't too excited starting up having been here before. The northern aspects had snow of course, which I can do without at this time of year. The ridge was beautiful and the weather was great, especially considering thunderstorms were in the forecast. On the way back I spotted a bear sitting below the west end of the ridge. The bear wondered off, and we went down the SW scree slopes as this would avoid the majority of the snow. We then wondered back along the river and crossed back to Elbow Falls parking lot. Birthday cake - a fun outing after all." — BertB • May 11, 2021
"Went up the Spirko's route on N Ridge, combined it with a traverse to Swany's Ridge, which included losing and regaining about 100 m both ways. Of the 8.1 km, I'd say a solid 5 were bushwacking " — apfelstrudel • Jul 29, 2018
