"Wanted to explore some newly named peaks in the Lake Mead area before the weather got too hot. Parked at Redstone Picnic area, and angled over toward East Redstone and found a fun new approach (for me) scrambling up a gully - much more fun than my previous route. Then over to Tall Cairn and on to Acceber. Descended intending to do N'Rocla too, but got distracted by a pretty pink and white gully/slot canyon with a dry fall/cliff, and forgot to do it! Next time....(good reason to go back). Then crossed the road and went up to Echo Hills - fun, short scramble. Walked northwest to the end of ridge line (dipping down slightly to the right at one point- don't go left) intending to also summit Basin View, but it was SO windy and it looked really steep and loose, I couldn't see a good line up, so I turned back (another reason to return). Then drove up to the road a bit and did Bobcat Rock from the pull off and Peak 2595, also fun on dark brown/red rock. GPS trouble again, all numbers estimated except time." — tracyt • Apr 4, 2026
"I unexpectedly had the day off because of the passing of President Bush, so decided to go for a hike. I had been up in these peaks before, but had not been to the highpoint. This time, I went up south gully directly from Northshore Road, near Redstone. I went to the highpoint first, then made my way across a steep, limestone ridge to Basin View. This was a short, but very enjoyable hike. Basin View Peak was the harder climb & nicer peak. Great views from both. Some scrambling & lots of loose rock! Trip stats are for for both peaks. (Man, the pics I uploaded to Peakery really lost a lot of color...not sure what happened there)" — StudioHoodoo • Dec 5, 2018
"Went up the back canyon from Bitter Spring Road. It was REALLY windy & cold. I opted to just hit one of the lower peaklets in the group. There are some really nice slot canyons at the bottom of this area." — StudioHoodoo • Dec 29, 2013
