"Loop of Big Indian and Fir from Biscuit Brook TH. P-W trail all the way up then HP to can on Big Indian. Solid herd path between the peaks and back down to the P-W trail. After a quick lunch at the TH I headed over to Denning road to climb up Red Hill via the new trail. I needed the new trail for round 2 of the All Trails challenge and the climb completes the ‘22 DEC Fire tower challenge of 6 towers and round #8 of the Catskill Fire Towers(5). The new trail has a nice easy grade you barely know your climbing up. It weaves through some rock outcrops and appears to be the handiwork of Ed Walsh’s Tahawus trail building crew." — Nimblefoot • May 23, 2022

"It was a tough but beautiful climb. Steady uphill. Flowers coming into bloom, black flies are coming out. Lovely trail but a lot of loose rocky scramble. Tower was locked. Not much view" — melaniehaskell • May 3, 2022

"Rained on the way up. A steady gradual climb on a gravel road.
Ruins were spectacular.
Very windy in the FT and pelted with snow as we came down. View of the Hudson Valley from the cliffs beautiful. " — Fitgrandma • Apr 27, 2022
"Getting Friday and Balsam Cap for the month of February. Ran into two friends, Yong Ae and George, on my way up Friday. George had already done BC so was heading out then I caught up with Yong Ae again on BC. As always she offered me half her sandwich, smoked salmon/avocado/jalapeño peppers on a bagel, and her warm tea. Dull Hillsounds were just barely enough on the ice at upper elevations otherwise mostly bare ground or patches of old ice. Had time to do a quick ascent of Overlook afterwards and get home at a decent time prior to the big storm. Plenty of ice on the trail but was able to dodge most of it so the Hillsounds stayed in the pack." — Nimblefoot • Feb 24, 2022

"Loop from Spruceton Rd Trailhead going clockwise to Hunter and Southwest Hunter. Warm and sunny day for February, packed slushy snow and some icy patches. A couple steep parts on the way up and down, but not too bad. Spikes, no snowshoes needed. Ran into a few groups of hikers. The view from Hunter's firetower was amazing, no view from SW Hunter unfortunately. The ridge along Devil's Path had a nice sunny lookout and there were some cool waterfalls by the turn to West Kill's trail a mile from the end of the loop. Overall, not too difficult or technical of a hike, slushy snow was the toughest part. 10.25 miles in 5.5 hours, 2,750 ft total elevation gain." — gregoryskiba • Feb 21, 2022
