"3.27.2020~5 peak solo, 12 miles, 4,000’ gain, 8:29hrs. Cathedral West, Cathedral HP, Chalcedony, Chalcedony South and Red Barrel Peak. I started out in light rain and was immediately greeted by wild Horses. There was an abundance of wildflowers and grasses. The landscape was enchanting and stunning with jaw dropping views. I saw a lot of bighorn rams, an underwater caterpillar and a Turkey Vulture. Crystal recommended this area to me so I had to check it out. It did not disappoint! I was super slow today because of a groin injury I’ve been dealing with and it was so pretty, I stopped to take a million photos. Wrong shoe choice too. Slow is a good thing in this area as there is so much to see.

"Well, this was a very frustrating trip. Went up & over Peak 2819 for the second time & continued over to Cathedral. Wound my way up to 10-15 feet below the summit. There, I found a short class 3 wall. It had lots of footholds & handholds, but all on brittle, crumbly rock that pulls apart in your hands. I tested my first step & it seemed solid. Stepped up & was starting to pull myself up to the next step, when the rock broke off under my feet. Luckily, I was holding most of my weight with my arms & didn't completely fall, though I did really bang & gash my knee up. I was spooked enough to not try again. That was the closest I've been to a summit without actually making it & I was pretty bummed. I sat for awhile & pulled myself together & consoled myself by dropping down into beautiful Cathedral Canyon & did a huge loop over to the S Cove wash & went back up that way." — StudioHoodoo • Nov 12, 2018
"This ended up being a little more than we were planning for the day. Hike was 8.75 miles with about 2900 feet of gain. Lots of up & down both ways. It was a little too hot on the return as well. The view from the summit is one of the best I've seen out here!" — Kevin • Apr 2, 2016
