"Caldron Peak - July 21 2019. Easy scramble. A beautiful weather day to be up here. The crux is the river crossing on the way in/out behind Peyto Lake. I suggest bringing some sandals or old shoes for this. You can cross it before you head into the canyon or afterwards right before you head up the moraine, I recommend the former. A good trail leads up to Caldron Lake which is amazing, and then it's off trail from there. There are some snow patches lingering that will be around for a while, it's possible to tackle them a bit lower so that you don't risk falling/ sliding down and getting soaked. It's a battle to the top, with crappy loose rock, scree, and soft dirt, not much fun going up. Views are sublime at the summit, with the prime look at Peyto Lake just before you reach the top. It's a quick run down the scree back to Caldron Lake, then a knee killing walk back down to the flats just before you have to gain 300m again to get back to the car. Fabulous. Lots of gain and effort for this one but a nice summit to stand on for sure! Props to the party of 3 that tackled Mistaya." — jakefinnan • Jul 20, 2019
"Awesome peakbagging weekend out of peyto hut. Decent travel conditions aside from some tricky crevasse navigation low on the Wapta Icefield. We were able to climb and descend the crux on Habel with no rope because of great snow conditions. Caldron was a slog with a lot of up and down in the sun!" — BobbyG • Jul 20, 2019
"Incredibly gorgeous day with beautiful cumulus clouds, sunshine and perfect light conditions for photographing. Met four fellow scramblers at the summit from Calgary, Edmonton, Jasper and California. Saw the space shuttle shoot overhead that night from the flats beneath Peyto Glacier" — Mountainman • Jul 18, 2009
