"Boot Boulder, Divided Sky, and Baby Shark. I was looking for a short, fun, somewhat shady route. I'd eyed up these features before as I hiked by to other places and thought I'd give them a try. Parked at Willow Springs and hiked about 2 miles on Rocky Gap Rd. to the far side (SW) of Baby Shark - a very easy ascent. Then descended NE side and went cross country to Divided Sky. Not so easy - I chose an inefficient route, went too high too quickly and it was all brushy. But I got there. Descended the NW side back down to Rocky Gap, which was a lot easier, through the red sand and red rock. Then up a north facing gully to Boot Boulder - a bit brushy at the bottom, but not too bad as you ascend, and nice and shady! All figures approximate - as usual, my nav tech recorded an incomplete route" — tracyt • Jun 3, 2026
"Went to Lost Creek Peak first, via graffiti traverse, and descended down the ridge line to Boot Boulder. There are some cairns, but not enough to follow an exact route. We found what we thought was a good route, running into random cairns on the way. Just before the final ridge area of Boot Boulder you will have to climb down a break in the ridge line. I have done it two ways....to the left which will put on a very exposed small ledge system with minimal hand and foot holds in places. Or, to the right which will make you loose a lot of elevation only to climb back up. " — Heartattackbruce • Oct 8, 2022
"Usually I use this as part of a multi-peak link-up with "Lost Creek Peak" and "North Peak," but my most memorable trip was with Christine I. in 2015. She was out for Red Rock rendezvous in 2015, and she and her climbing partners had all their gear stolen. So we arranged for a mental purge." — hwstock • Mar 29, 2015
"Couldn't find anyone to hike with, so I ventured up to Boot Boulder solo. Nice, quick, fun hike. I followed a group of bighorn sheep up Rattlesnake Ridge towards Lost Creek Peak for a while before I lost 'em. Descended the same way I went up." — Kevin • Nov 1, 2013
