"5.31.25~ North to South Sister Traverse including Black Rock Sister w/Autumn & Laszlo. 6 miles, 2,800’ gain, 5:09hrs.
Thank you Laszlo for the support, company and great route to the top of the 1st peak. Ideal weather of all types all in one hike including lovely cloud over, light rain off and on, wind here and there, cold, and warmth when the sun peeked through. My Daughters first time on these peaks and traverse. She handled it like a pro. " — paula.raimondi • May 31, 2025

"Classic north to south Three Sisters route via Lee Canyon.
NOTE FOR ADMINS: "Black Rock Sister" should be deleted as it's a duplicated peak for "Black Sister" which already exists. " — DudeAlmighty • Oct 3, 2024

"I have found that it is safer to do this route in reverse (counter clockwise) from the "standard" published route. There's a chute off of North Sister that is a descent if you go the standard way. I have seen people get injured in and caused large rock falls in that chute. You can save yourself from these potential disasters if you go counter clockwise. This means that you will be going up it instead of down it...which has proven to eliminate the prior incidents that have happened there. I should also mention, if you follow the "quick" descent exit part of the attached track, you will find it to be VERY steep at the top. Make sure that you are familiar with the Mt Charleston steep, potentially loose gullies. Good luck! Be safe! " — Heartattackbruce • Jul 18, 2024

"Peak 8931 has at most 140' prominence, so I'm not sure why it is on Peakery... but this route gets you there without the talus. I parked a bit in from the Mack's Canyon Road, but you could currently get to the start of the forest road with a 2wd and 6" clearance (really need 5", except to park in a bit). The ridge up and the route down were mostly brush-free. I had planned for a longer day, but when I got to Black Sister, I realized I hadn't refilled my water." — hwstock • Jun 4, 2024

"6.1.2024~CCW/Reverse Sister Traverse Loop. 6 miles, 2,700’ gain in 4:51. My 1st time going this direction. In going the opposite way, I was able to get a better look at the cairns that took the route on top of the ridges instead of below. I was able to traverse all the way to South Sister even above “creepy ledge” and landed nearly direct on the South Sister Plank/diving board ascent which is terrifying. Since I was climbing up, I could ignore the exposure. Before this, I found another narrow chute to the north off South Sister that could be used as a bypass instead of the south drop off of plank to creepy ledge but I skipped it since it had a few inconveniently placed blobs of snow near to a drop off. I felt uneasy today and couldn’t eat the food I packed but I drank my calories and that kept weakness away. Finally, I was able to eat a slice of pizza on South Sister’s twin peak since all the scary stuff was over. I Found my homemade stick ice axe I misplaced on 5.30.24. Beautiful day. The hwy was empty which made the drive up pleasant and fast. I consumed 2.5 16oz water bottles, an applesauce pouch, 2 small Gatorades & a slice of signature select rising crust pepperoni pizza. "5.30.24~Sister Traverse. South, North & Black 6.3 miles, 2,700’ gain in 4:33hrs. I didn’t do the most frightening traverse route but my goal was to do all three whether or not I was able to get myself to do the hardest way. I did find the scary ledge but wasn’t able to get there from walking the plank because I couldn’t figure out the drop down spot from above. I started out on it but there were scattered rocks that creeped me out and an overgrown shrub that pushed my position, so I went around the other side of the ridge there. There were Swarms of ladybugs on every summit. Beautiful afternoon. Started at 11am. I consumed a banana and 30gram protein milk for breakfast. On the hike I ate an applesauce pouch, a quest 21 gram protein bar, and drank one small Gatorade and 2-16oz water bottles. I had a sandwich packed but was too nervous to have an appetite for it. The drive across town is awful now. Too many people, too many cones. " — paula.raimondi • May 30, 2024

"My 17th traverse. Inspired by AceKelly and Maggie, I added peak 8931. I took the "Mistake" Chute up N Sister, terrible talus with two interesting sections. This is not the normal "hard" route up." — hwstock • Jun 26, 2023

"Sisters from Mack’s canyon rd . Gravel rd / high clearance recommended . This one would also be more easily accessible from lee canyon rd . This was a slog up each sister . Steep loose gravel all the way. Tops of each sister had a fun little scramble. Recorded this one on alltrails (pic shown). 15/100 " — joshortman • Oct 25, 2022

"I was itching to do something new, so decided to head up Black Sister. I parked at a pullout on the Mack's Canyon Road & headed up a north ridge. Lots of steep, loose terrain. I also ripped the ass out of my shorts coming back down the very top part of the summit. It was quite warm up there today. I headed back down a pleasant & pretty canyon, but then had to walk for about a mile on the road back to my Jeep. This one was a low priority, but I'm glad I finally made it up there." — StudioHoodoo • Aug 18, 2019

"6.23.19....The “proper” Sisters Traverse w/The Masters Judy, Barb & Harlan. 7 miles, 2,600’ gain, 3 Peaks. The Finale of my local Summer Solstice mountaineering vacation that my Family allowed me to indulge in. 8 days, 70 miles, 22,000’ gain, 7 Peaks (including 3 Mt Charleston peaks, Griffith and the 3 Sisters peaks.)
Thank you guys so much for inviting me. I never thought I’d ever get to this point in mountaineering. Last year Harlan took the time to go out to this mountain several times to assess things and prep to help me conquer this “proper” traverse.
Each time I went with him, I cowered away in fear in the very beginning when you have to walk the plank. The exposure is mind blowing. I went alone last year and did a “brute force” version where I went below all the cliffs. It was respectable but not the proper way. You guys are so awesome to take me under your wings and show me how to roll. You are all gracious and kind. I’m beyond grateful. Thank you a billion times.
I learned today that chatting about Chicken Salad when standing inches from a 500’ cliff can be soothing and informative. " — paula.raimondi • Jun 23, 2019
