"We followed the line on the map from the north, the route that is also inaccurately listed on AllTrails under "Drywood Mountain". Some sketchy bits and routefinding on the lower half. The upper half was pretty straightforward. The wind was brutal on the upper half, which is normal for the area. If you want to summit this one, the other routes are probably easier.
On the way down the snow conditions were just right so that snowballs formed and rolled down the hill. That was pretty cool. And the views were amazing.

"Bert drove down with Jenna and I to the Castle. We missed the Shell Waterton complex turnoff, so we took a few backroads and finally arrived at the trailhead. There were some people going on horseback and a few on bikes and foot. We opted for the bike approach, and it was brutal with the headwind. We had to walk up the hills sometimes :( When we got to the gate, Bert opted to turn around since the weather wasn't great. Jenna and I decided that we could head to Bovin Lake anyways. On the way we did the recon for the creek crossing for Loaf and it was way to fast and high for us, so we turned around and I quickly looked up Drywood in my Nugara e-book and we decided we'd try to salvage the day with that. And it worked out! We had a stiff tailwind heading up, which was actually helpful on the scree bash, but it was sketchy closer to the summit as it was blowing us around in places you wouldn't want to fall. No summit stay, just a quick retreat back into the headwind, but at least it was downhill. We made it back to the trail, found the bikes and the wind blew us back all the way ) " — leigh-annewebster • Jul 1, 2020
"Really nice scrambling from the south side. Lots of easy to moderate hands on ops, but chances to spice it up as much as you like.
Did the loop, traversing to the western outlier and beyond. Descended to Bovin lake." — mike_rogers81 • Jun 17, 2017
