"Jenna and I drove to Waterton and spent an overcast day doing a modified winter route on Rowe (modified from Matt Clay). Avi was low-moderate-moderate and the snowpack was settled, but there was definitely exposure to risk on this route." — leigh-annewebster • Feb 24, 2024
"Kate, Shannon and I had a perfect day out in Waterton. We saw two other people and that's it! There is some decent hands-on and route-finding in this one, so I'd consider it a pretty good scramble. We took 6:10 including breaks, so it wasn't that long.... just a bit of a drive. " — leigh-annewebster • Oct 21, 2023
"A hike (Class 1) via Upper Rowe Lake Trail. The descent straight towards the highway is exposed right after the summit on a narrow ridge, and feels like a "difficult" scramble. It's a slog below the ridge. I'd hate to go up that way." — Taras • Jul 10, 2023
"On May 28th, we chose Mt Glendowan down in Waterton as the first scramble of the season. The ascent was dry and a low cloud layer kept us cool as we enjoyed some fun moderate scrambling before punching through the clouds to the summit. From there we took Andrew Nugara's excellent suggestion and followed the connecting ridge to Newman Peak. Most of this route was straightforward, although some route-finding was required to find our way down through a large notch on the way down from Glendowan.
From the Newman-Avion col, there was quite a bit of snow remaining on the route down to and below Goat Lake." — geoffhardy • May 28, 2023
"Jenna and I drove down to Waterton and Met Julie, Tammy and Cathie there. It was hot, dry and sunny! It actually felt like we skipped spring and went right to summer. Such a nice hike in, a wee slog up to the ridge and a great ridgewalk. I only had one tick this time! We were out for 5 hours in total and had an amazing time. Love these early season warm-ups for the bigger stuff that's coming later this season." — leigh-annewebster • Apr 29, 2023
