"Drove up Friday night with Amber & camped at the large washout on Forest Road 412. Got up early & started hiking around 5am. We took the road to the Wilderness boundary, then the faint path to the base of the 'meadow'. It was more like a 'steep meadow of doom'. Anyways, we made it up that, then through a short section of aspens, before starting up the loose, boulder-strewn ridge up to the summit. The boulders sucked, but there were so many beautiful bristlecone pines on the way up that it wasn't horrible. Amber may disagree. I can see how this would have been one of John Muir's favorite peaks (reportedly)." — Kevin • Jun 21, 2014
