"Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh. A miserable, painful slog. We had intended to do the Currant-Duckwater loop, and instead struggled mightily to just do Currant. I had forgotten my headlamp in the car, so the choice we made to just do Currant out-and-back was the smart one. Our track ended up being (EDIT: GPX track disagrees with me; my non-recorded track had different stats, but I'll report what the track I have says) 11 miles total distance, over 4,000' elevation gain, and took 12 hours. "Hiked up with the Las Vegas Mountaineers Club. This was a steep, but beautiful hike. There are a ton of beautiful Bristlecone pines near the top of the ridge. The final ascent up the narrow ridges was a nice treat too! Although the storms threatened, we were able to get up & down the mountain before they became an issue." — Kevin • Aug 25, 2013
