"Jessica was in town, so her, Ken, Amber & I headed back to the Arrow Canyon Range to give Table Mountain another try. We entered the SE Canyon, which led to a weakness in the cliffs that we were able to ascend. Once on top, we hiked over to the highpoint listed on the topo maps, which was definitely lower than another spot to the South. We hiked to the true highpoint, then descended another break in the wall that I spotted the week before, but wasn't sure if it went through; it did. Once down, we added the logical bonus peak of Dead Man Hill, which Amber & I had hiked last weekend while scouting this out. We looped back around Table Mountain back to the cars. While Ken & Jessica drove over to hike the Arrow Canyon Narrows, Amber & I headed home to prep for our dinner party. Fun day!" — Kevin • Nov 20, 2021
"Work had me back in Vegas (woo!) so I of course had to do some hikes with my favorite hiking peeps ever! <3 Gosh I miss these similarly-crazy people. Find the people who are the same strain of weird as you, and keep them close. Okay, enough with the life lessons! We were hiking with some time constraints, so we wanted a relatively short and easy-ish summit: Kevin picked Table Mountain. I had never been out in this area before, even though I'd driven past NV-168 while heading north or south on US-93 many, many times. What a fascinating area! Easy enough pull-off onto a 4x4 road; we parked right off the road and hiked it in, and then around Table Mountain until we found a good way to bypass the cliff bands near the top. Gorgeous day in the Mojave desert; a bit windy at the summit itself. We took a different route on the descent (I may have said "sketchy" once or twice), but it really wasn't that bad. Was glad we went up the way we did, though, it was much more gradual and a better warm-up. Once we were off of Table Mountain, we wandered over to Dead Man Hill, which Kevin and Amber had summitted the week before, just to get a second peak and a different view of where we had just been...." — psychikingjes • Nov 20, 2021
