"Ran with the Roanoke Valley Trail Runners. Beautiful evening with a spectacular sunset. Per usual, I made it just in the knick of time as I raced up to the boulders nearly sprinting over ankle-destroying rocks. " — runshigleyrun • Oct 10, 2023
"Took Sara and her friends, who have never been up to the best view in the Roanoke Valley, up Tinker Mountain. Beautiful day until we got caught in a hard rain shower on the way down. " — runshigleyrun • Jul 23, 2023
"My buddy Zang finally came out to visit Roanoke. Met some interesting people on the way up Tinker Mountain including a mushroom forager with his own Youtube channel. The views were spectacular as always. Several thru-hikers. " — runshigleyrun • May 7, 2023
"My 10th climbing of this mountain witnessed a reckoning of sorts. An epic rainstorm arrived as I observed from the peak. Spectacular views as the curtain of precipitation made its way across the forest, mountains, and reservoir. Cold, soaking rain. " — runshigleyrun • Apr 30, 2023
"Hiked with my brother-in-law and sister. The day after going up McAfee, they both agreed that this was slightly the better view. Certainly, a difficult comparison to make as they are both spectacular. The weather was early fall-like and the sky was amazing. " — runshigleyrun • Aug 13, 2022
"Took my friend's family up Tinker Mountain for their first time. This was also my first mountain of my second year living in Roanoke. My goal is to bag 102 peaks (at least) in this upcoming year. Beautiful sky and temperatures for today's hike. This is absolutely one of the best views in the Roanoke Valley region. " — runshigleyrun • Jun 19, 2022
"My favorite peak, Tinker Mountain, overlooks the bucolic Carvin Cove Reservoir. Sara and I greeted countless thru-hikers as they arrived along the AT. The blueberries and blackberries are near ready for consumption. Absolutely beautiful day to celebrate the beginning of this teacher's summer vacation." — runshigleyrun • Jun 11, 2022
"A beautiful, warm spring day where every other hiker was walking to Maine. Spring wildflowers in full effect. This was my fourth time up Tinker Mountain. Each has been at the height of a season. " — runshigleyrun • Apr 24, 2022
"After a 2-week bout of bronchitis, I was finally able to get up a mountain during peak color. There aren't too many better views than those from the top of Tinker Mountain overlooking Roanoke's drinking water, Carvin Cove Reservoir. A breathtaking, challenging hike up the AT with rewarding sites. " — runshigleyrun • Nov 14, 2021
"Beautiful run up Tinker Mountain, but a bit surprised by the lack of color in the trees. Lots of hikers out. Possibly best views in the area overlooking our drinking water. Outstanding trail for running as it is a pretty gentle climb from the godawful parking lot. " — runshigleyrun • Oct 17, 2021
