"10-mile trail run with a long climb up Brushy Mountain via Lakeside, Hemlock. Brushy fire road and then off trail to the peak. Beautiful early wildflowers out along the lake. " — runshigleyrun • Mar 31, 2024
"Had a beautiful early autumn evening run after work. Ran slowly up the Gauntlet Trail from the tip of the reservoir. Leaves changed more the higher I climbed. Quite a few mountain bikers out on this gnarly trail. We were all racing the sunset and the coming tropical storm." — runshigleyrun • Sep 29, 2022
"During the Conquer the Cove 25K, we made the ascent up Brushy along two different trails. 15 1/2 rugged miles and 2,445 feet of climbing throughout the morning. Beautiful views of McAfee Knob coming up the fire road. The road was not technical, but the singletrack certainly was. Mountain Laurel in full bloom and water running everywhere thanks to a week of rain. The forest was ultra-green, and the air was cool this morning. " — runshigleyrun • May 29, 2022

"Went up Brushy Mountain twice. Once from the east and once from the west, which is the much more difficult route going up Hy-Dee-Ho singletrack. Great climbs for a long day on the Carvin Cove Reservoir trail system (15 miles). " — runshigleyrun • Sep 6, 2021
"Ran up Brushy twice on Labor Day. The west side is def more challenging than the east side. Two great climbs in the heat, but deep forest of the Carvin Cove trail system. 15 miles or trail-running. BTW: In order to reach the peak, one must go off trail up the mountain, which is quite easy. I utilized the AllTrails app to accomplish this. " — runshigleyrun • Sep 6, 2021
