"We parked at the Lenape Trail lot off Old Quarry road. There were quite a few cars there, which I thought unusual for 10 am on a Wednesday morning. We immediately started on the blue trail, and in ten minutes we were at the top of Quarry Point. The peak is composed of smooth, black basalt rock, but unfortunately, it is covered with pieces of crushed glass from what is probably years’ worth of smashed beer bottles. Luckily, Petey’s feet weren’t injured. Another unfortunate circumstance was that dense haze enveloping the entire eastern valley all the way out to the Manhattan skyline. The view would have been magnificent, but for the haze. In 20 minutes, we were back to the car, and off to Kips Castle in Verona." — michaelzandonella • Mar 14, 2024
