"Between the thick brush that persists throughout the entire mountain, and the evil little weeds that were getting embedded in my socks I was not having a good time . If you must go my way, absolutely being long pants and gaiters " — joshortman • Jun 24, 2023
"Met up with Harlan to climb a couple of small peaks that neither of us had been to. We started up a drainage that was much better than either of us expected, then made our way up the brushy slope to Mount Alexander. From there, we went across the saddle to Stoneface. Our way down wasn't a good way to ascend, but it was a nice, quick descent route for us. Nice day before it got too warm." — Kevin • May 1, 2022
"Kevin and I thought about this a lot, and we have this advice: 1) It's probably good NOT to do this hike completely naked. At least wear shoes. There is a place 0.6 miles in where shoes are especially helpful. 2) have clothes that are treated with permethrin. 3) carry a tick spoon or a pair of tweezers. My legs were a little scratched at the end of the day (some people would judge it differently), and I found myself jumping over the many semi-prickly plants (desert rose bushes of various kinds) rather than plow through them. This area has burned 2x in the last 21 years, and the trees are represented by just burned trunks. The way down has some spots with cow trails and old roads." — hwstock • May 1, 2022
