"I headed out today for a 10 km hike in Sierra Cabrera with the idea of reaching the top of Cerro de los Peralicos. The first route I tried didn’t go as planned. The maquis was so thick and sticky I couldn’t even get close to the base—just a wall of green refusing to budge. I turned around, scratched up and slightly annoyed.
But I wasn’t ready to give up. I spotted an old jeep track that seemed to head in the right direction. It led me to the ruins of an old house—crumbled walls, a roof long gone, nature taking over. From there, the terrain changed. The maquis was still there, but not as dense, and I could hop over the rocks and wind my way between the bushes. Eventually, I made it. The summit—707 meters up—opened up with an incredible view of Sierra Almagro and the Mediterranean Sea beyond. Totally peaceful up there, just the wind and a whole lot of space. I made my way back via the El Dondo peak, legs tired but happy.." — belgianIbex • Jun 21, 2025
